Peer into the mind of Dan as he tries to build an MP3 Player for his PDA and searches for the next thing in his life be it an electrical engineering job or graduate school.
For the past bit, I've been having some problems getting the Blogger to archive my posts. It works ok to store them all but there was a frightening possibility that the old posts could not be saved. When I clicked on "republish all" under the archive option, it spit back a 203 Error. It still does but at least I'm able to republish each archive page individually. So I guess that will have to do for now.
One of the neatest (and worst) things about having a counter is seeing where your audience comes from. This is great because I'm getting data as to screen sizes (should still stick with 800x600), browser (IE), time of day (well... we'll get back to this one) and where the referrer hits. I think this is getting to be an issue where I may need to implement a search engine or something. I see people trying to search for things like the STK200 dongle or other windows stuff and the link is to my the main blog-which probably won't hold the same things. Hopefully Google will find a way to index it more quickly with its acquisition of Blogger. I mean that would be the best part, that they could have up-to-date links. I appreciate the hits and views, but I think people would like to get to what they searched for and not the latest 'misadventure' of danprime. :P
So what's the solution? Already with each post there's a link to its permanent location but the search engines don't seem to index that. A search engine comes to mind but I don't have access to a cgi-bin, at least not on this account... maybe I can use the 'search' thing they have on the blogger posting page.
I keep on thinking about stuff to write about but never get around to writing it down-k no more of that!!
Its my second week using Dragon Flash Card and I have to say I think its helped my recognition and literacy rate increase. I tried using King Hanzi (suggested by Kevin) for a bit but I still like Dragon better. I don't know there are differences between KingHanzi and dragon. The fact that Dragon recognizes instantly if you have a wrong stroke order is really cool, whereas with King Hanzi you see how its all done and you have to correct it yourself. Dragon really feels like a flash card but King Hanzi is more like a simpler tutorial. Dragon is free compared to King Hanzi which is not... Of course King Hanzi has a larger vocab than Dragon... but Dragon is just starting up.
So Joel, my running partner, called me up and asked me about my run. He had called an hour before saying he couldn't run because it was snowing (over 2 inches on the ground), and he hadn't gotten a lot of sleep (which is funny because he was more worried about me not getting enough sleep-I had 7.5 glorious hours!). Anyways he saw the results(1 hour 38 minutes! woohoo! my first ever!!) I'm not sure why, but he asked me why I got that. Originally we had been shooting for 1 hour and 10 minutes-but that wasn't going to happen in the snow and especially not after a two week hiatus in training right before the race. Even though I honnestly didn't feel like I needed to rationalize my results I told him that it was snowing and that I needed more trainning on the course to do better next time.
Overall doing the race did make me think. 1)I proved that if I say I'm going to run it-I will run it-even if I have to run it on my own. I think its when I'm on my own that I feel the most not alone, God is there. 2) Running a race-especially a long one, is a lot like life... everyone is trying to run it, not everyone finishes in style. The most difficult part is before the race, knowing that you may have to run it "alone", wondering if its enough. Well you know what? It is enough-the very fact that I have faith in God, that I'm trying to "run" and to finish shows my determination my belief. Its a long race, and I just pray that I use the strength that God gave me to lift my head and look towards the finish line where despite the snow, other people, the tiredness, eventually I will cross it. 3) People set people-expectations on themselves and their expectations have everything to do with their intent.
I'm still running, God help me to keep on running till the day I cross the line.
I just came across this tip which shows you how to change the shortcut locations-I hate the history button when you click on 'Open' it takes forever on my computer to recall everything-so now I can take it off!
All that in 8 days...
