Peer into the mind of Dan as he tries to build an MP3 Player for his PDA and searches for the next thing in his life be it an electrical engineering job or graduate school.
I had my BBQ/Potluck thing yesterday night. It went pretty well, Josh and Christine made it out-so did Greg and Alex. I was a bit nervous when I saw that Alex had brought beer to the house, I'm not quite sure what gave him that idea. There was so much food as well!
A person I knew called, twice. The first time I understood pretty well, perhaps its because he has a softer voice-which some people do. The thing is, it makes it difficult when certain people take a hardline stance on things and won't budge. In many ways, yes they are resilient and very strong, but at the same time it can make people feel uncomfortable. Its like some strange running up to you and shouting at you for ordering the steak because they are a vegan and you're not. Sometimes they add the 'hit and pat strategy' where they almost rebuke you and then compliment you afterwards as if to justify their initial attack. It just can get really... frustrating.
MSConfig used to work on my Win2k but now it doesn't... I came across this alternative so lets see what happens (deep breath!)
I love the pop up window blocking in Mozilla but sometimes it works too well. Recently SRC changed their televised news to be embedded in a popup window. Mozilla (and Mozilla Phoenix) thought it was some kind of advertisement window because of the javascript but the weird thing was that it let it open before it closed it. Having e-mailled the fine people at SRC they replied back and I found the solution (or at least a temporary solution).
So Jason told me a while ago about how his DDR pad didn't quite work. In fact short of his hard pad lighting up when you stepped on it, nothing else worked (the signals weren't going through). So at first I thought it might be a shorted wire or something. Anyways, last week, I made it out to his place and took a look at the board. After a bit of poking around, I told him to go by an el-cheapo Playstation 1 controller so that I could help him fix it. He agreed to sacrifice the functionning of the lights for the working of the pad, it wasn't that hard to wire it after I ripped out the old circuitry. Now that I think about it, I might be able to fix his lights... but I don't know if I want to do that right away. Not that I'm greedy (because I agreed to help him without him needing to offer anything) but no payment (well I burned the tip of my finger with a soldering iron... ahhh memories); however, Jason was really happy to get his board working again.
I took it more as a challenge to quickly fix something, and had it not been for the old circuitry and the lights, I might have been able to finish it even earlier.
I saw Better Luck Tomorrow over the weekend. I thought it was really good, it was definitely a weird experience. Part of it stems from the fact that all the main characters in the film were asian. It felt like I was watching some friends making their own movie, only it was like a breakout from the norm. Normally when you watch movies (by you I really mean me) you can enjoy the stories but you can distance yourself from the story. Like you know the sci fi stuff is really whacked out and and the teen movies themselves are also far off. When I watched 'Better Luck Tomorrow' it was like seeing an alternate reality and I think that's what was disturbing.
In the movie, they have a band of fellow asian students protesting and cheering for the main character. The whole premise was that despite the work he put in, he made the cut on the basketball team simply because they needed a token asian. The people who were cheering for him were championing for "asian empowerment" essentially the reverse of putting someone on the team for being the token asian. That totally made me evaluate-why am I watching this film? Am I doing this because its asian and its like "Go rice power!" or am I watching it because its a good story? Thinking about it some more I think it depends on the original intent. In this case it was a mix, so that's what I got out of it. While it was great to see asian actors playing mainstream non-martial-arts roles, it was good to see a character development and plot line come out. I look at Banana Boys and I see something similar only I like the story better.
A new board game, this has been floating around in ECAC for some time now... just thought I should look it up and well I found the rules and this Java based online version.
yes people actually talk about these things
I finished 'Banana Boys' today and I had an interview! Yes an interview! I'm really thankful to God that I got one, I'm thankful for the friends and family that prayed during my interview. The interview lasted over an hour!! That's all I can say :)
Not everyone uses Internet Explorer so when a page loads and uses the bgsound tag nothing happens... that's not right. The solution:
<EMBED SCR="BLAH.wav" WIDTH=145 HEIGHT=60 AUTOSTART="true" VOLUME=80>
