My Kryptonite

Some links about WASTE-> 1 2

Yesterday a friend of mine introduced me to this cafe called Urban Grind. Its near the museum and MEC, right next to Hokkaido. Anyways they sell bubble tea drinks there so I looked down the list and ordered the Kiwi Bubble tea because I've never tried it before.

Guy at Counter: Uhh have you ever been here before?
Me: Nope, first time.
GAC: Just so that you know, apparently some people's throat swell up when they have this bubble tea.
Me: Ooh, deadly bubble tea!
GAC: Yeah, a lot of people can eat kiwis normally but when we blend it up it becomes kinda weird, I can mix it with some strawberry and if that's ok next time you can go full out.
Me: Sounds good, do it up.

So a few minutes later, this innocent-looking pink coloured drink is put in front of me. I take a sip and at first all is well and then suddenly my palate hits the kiwi and maybe it was the suggestion from before, but actually I did feel my throat start to close up. It wasn't so much a sour thing but more of a 'hmm-this-is-strange'. So there you go, my kryptonite.... I want to try and do it again.

My Grandpa died yesterday

He was a great man, I always got the impression of him being someone who cared deeply about his family, his friends, and everyone he met. He rarely forgot anyone he met and I don't think I've ever heard him being judgemental. He was a role model and a great human being.

Thank you Grandpa and thank you Lord for putting him in our lives, may you rest in peace and see you in Heaven.

Political Correctness

I have nothing against people who are tired of political correctness when its overtly ridiculous but there's a giant line drawn in the proverbial sand when it comes to ignorance. I couldn't believe it when I saw comments being made when the news about China making manned flights into space. Some people say that you shouldn't expect too much-but why not!? Decency and understanding are not high and mighty expectations!! I should have a right to expect people to treat one another with respect! If not why on earth do we have punishments?

I remember when I had to do a report on someone who made a significant impact in my life. I chose my dad. This was different because, I never really knew what my dad did before us. I wasn't sure of my history, how he had immigrated over and then was shocked to find out what he did when he came here. He went to college and studied culinary arts, but he also did a lot of translation work-for driver's education, immigration, and anything that needed an interpreter.

Dad worked hard back in China and then when they moved to Hong Kong, I remember him telling that it was a long bus ride. Lots of papers and stuff. Dad
