CP Rail and Chinese Immigrants

While my bro and I were hiking the Kettle Valley Rail trail (KVR) in Kelowna we were half-joking and wondering who actually built the rails. We saw those 'Heritage Moments' about "One dead Chinese for every mile of the track". It was slightly disturbing because who would make up such a thing. Its almost unimaginable to think that such things existed. So yesterday I decided to start a bit of searching and then I found this: 1 2 3 4 5 6
Lets play spot the Chinese! After all, there were only fifteen thousand of them... oh wait.

Actually recent discoveries put the estimate at three dead Chinese men for every mile...

Learning something new

I was helping my friend out with some Webcam problems. Apparently he found this old, old, OLD (did I mention it was old?) Logitech USB Webcam (QuickCam)-only he didn't have any drivers. I don't claim to be the source to know everything there is to know, but people seem to come to me. I'm not about to reject them and not help out. So it took a couple minutes but we eventually found out how to install the drivers: you have to go to the device manager and then look at the Universal Serial Bus part and see the device that has a question mark-that's the camera. Of course he was pretty happy to install the camera since everyone else has one only its too blurry. Oh no!

So now he just bought a Labtec camera (brand spankin' new) only he's having problems installing that one too. At first he couldn't uninstall the previous camera (Windows no like having two USB cameras:P) so to do that you have to go back to the Device Manager again and find the camera-only the Logitech USB Quickcam isn't listed under the Universal Serial Bus thing, its listed under the 'Sound Video and Game Controller' (go figure) so you have to expand that to uninstall it then reinstall the Labtec driver. Its weird though, I personally am much better at tweaking things when I can play around with it. Once I remember how, its easy.

I believe I've come to a conclusion about my domain name... I've been mulling around it for the past week and really should make the decision. I'm going to go with DotEasy.com to do all the domain stuff. I think and I hope it should be pretty straightforward. They really do have the best package so far. This new package doesn't allow for any CGI or database stuff though: 1) Don't have the cash to afford it, 2) do I have the need for it?

Thoughts on Picking Domain Names

Here are some thoughts and comments I gleaned from my friends when I asked them between two choices.

Interesting E-mail program to check out, and while we're at it, a good Virus Checker to use
