Cool new Chinese tool!

I know I haven't been blogging lately, I hope to change this after Feb 1st, until then pray for me/wish me luck!

One of the biggest problems in learning Chinese (especially from a CBC point of view) is that you have no idea where to start. Add schedule conflict and [cough] funding [cough] issues and you quickly realize that paying for a University course to teach you Chinese is probably out of my league. It's been about three years since I started to embark on this trip and I can say that I've learned a little bit. I use Zhong Wen to help me learn why the word is shaped the way it is... I guess it depends on how you learn for some that helps others... maybe not. Anyways I found this program called DL Tool earlier today and gave it a try. It translates your words when you put them on the clipboard (select the text and cut or copy it). You can translate from Chinese to English and back... well sort of. The translation from English to Chinese is based on the definitions provided in the dictionary so it's more of a hit/miss but Chinese to English is really cool. Now if only they had the Cantonese pronounciations on there as well as the pinyin it would be perfect!

Happy New Lunar/Chinese Year! 新年快樂!
