Peer into the mind of Dan as he tries to build an MP3 Player for his PDA and searches for the next thing in his life be it an electrical engineering job or graduate school.
Some of you may or may not know that I'm helping out with PassionatePrayer.com. It's the brainchild of one of my friends (I'm not sure if she wants her identity to be known yet). In a nutshell it's a prayer-site or as one of my friends would probably put it 'Prayster'. Imagine what could happen if you focused all the prayers of people online onto certain items.
The way the site will work is that users will be able to sign up to pray for a certain slot or time period (multiple people can pray for the same show). The site will also house prayer list of users and should you chose to add it to your own list of items to pray for you'll be updated the moment something happens with that prayer (answered or not). Not all the details have completely been worked out but another friend of mine is helping out with the graphics and layout and I'll be working on the database stuff.
It seems like MSN is down-not maintenance down but like really down. My brother had mentionned that he had troubles connecting onto MSN earlier this evening but we dismissed it as just a random connection error. From slashdot I knew the MyDoom virus was still loose (viruses are never really captured-virus writers on the other hand...) but I didn't realize that it might be targetting other parts of microsoft-including the messenger system.
Think you got the little bugger? Use Window's MyDoom detection and removal tool to check.
Check it out! No more unzipping/decompressing, Firefox has its own installer. You can get it from the main site or an european mirror.
After all, isn't a browser a browser? What's the difference between eating a no-name cookie and Cookies by George? The experience between Internet Explorer and Firefox is fairly different: you aren't annoyed by popups any more-in fact they literally don't exist until you start using IE. I didn't know Hotmail had popups until I had to use a computer on campus :P Then there's the whole security issue-the majority of the flaws are found to be in Internet Explorer. There's the usage of tabs... it's like the worksheets tabs in Excel only for your browser. If you run a search, you can have ONE tab on google and then open the links in the other tabs-all of that in one window.
It's definitely worth trying out for at least a week-see how that works for you, if it doesn't you can uninstall it or delete it.
OE? I messaged
"Outlook Express... getting very annoyed!!" my friend replied.
Ohhh, (I haven't used Outlook since the days of... well the "I Love You" virus) getting swamped with viruses? I asked
"nono.. its just that.. i don't want to type my password in each time.. but.. it can't seem to remember my password..." she replied.
If Outlook Express (link not provided on purpose) doesn't remember your password account the first thing to check is if the correct password is saved. You do this by first checking the Account settings by going to Tools-> Accounts -> 'Mail' tab. Select the mail account and click on Properties. Then click on the 'Servers' Tab and retype in the correct password and check to see that the checkbox beside 'Save Password' is checked. Click the button labelled 'Apply' and then close Outlook Express and reload to see if there are any changes.
If Outlook Express still rejects you and asks for a password you may need to change the registry. You may have heard about "The Registry" before. This is basically a place where Windows keeps important (and sometimes unimportant) information like which programs to load at the startup, the name of the owner of the computer, and so on. Instructions to reset the saved password in Outlook can be found here or here. You should be careful with changing your registry.
Hope that helps!
