In case you need to open your PDA...

So I was happily using my Sony Clie when all of a sudden a "Fatal Error" Message popped up on my screen and then it promptly went into a coma. It should be noted that my powerbutton doesn't work anymore but since the warranty has expired I just rigged one of the bottom buttons to turn it on. However, with a "Fatal Error" message you can't use the Address or Memo buttons to turn it on... you can't even hit the hard reset to turn it on. You can only turn it on by turning it on with the power button... doh.

I came home and started to take apart the clie thinking that it's already broken-I can't really do much more damage than I already have so why not?? After finding quite a few dust bunnies the size of a pea (note the plural) and then cleaning up a lot of the circuits I managed to tap the on button and.... [drum roll] SUCCESS! Woo! It was a complete reset though so I lost all the data entered between Monday Evening and today an acceptable loss considering I thought I lost everything!

While doing a Google I found this site on how to repair your pdas and Ipods. Fairly handy and it has pictures! I don't think I'm ready to "upgrade" to the Hipster PDA :P. Lesson for this session: if the warranty has expired-why not go and be adventurous!?
